In the UK, approximately 5,000 prosthetic legs end up in landfills every year. Meanwhile, in Africa, 1.7 million amputees need a limb to help them live independent lives. Legs4Africa collects prosthetic limbs and ships them out to partner mobility centers across Africa, where they build or repair legs for people that otherwise may never walk again.
Project 30 is an opportunity for eMiters to keep valuable prosthetics out of the world’s landfills and repurpose these prosthetics for use by those in need in Sub-Saharan Africa. What a fantastic outreach! Salvage valuable prosthetics and purpose them to help others walk again.
Join Project 31 – Walk Again today! Do Good by reducing waste, and Do Good by providing those in need with the ability to walk again!

JULY UPDATE
Callum, a leg collector based in Australia, organized a mass dismantling day this month. Along with his five friends, they were able to dismantle and prepare 120 legs, shipped in barrels to the mobility center partners in sub-Saharan Africa. Together, they come to a whopping 661.4 pounds, with parts to make a total of 160 legs. They are due to arrive in September.
Danny is a 24-year-old who was involved in a road traffic accident. His injuries led to his right leg being amputated. Through Leg4Africa's partnership with the Orthopedic Training Centre in Ghana, he received a prosthetic leg.
“My passion is photography, I hope to be able to make my living by taking pictures of people.”

Name: Simon
Age: 40
Simon lost both his legs due to a preventable illness.“I am a farmer and I love to laugh. I am always now thinking of everything I can do with my new prosthetic legs”
April update
Meet Gabriel from Ghana. Most 12-year-old boys love their food, and his favorite is Fufu - a spongy dough made from boiled and pounded starchy food crops like plantains, cassava, and yams. Besides eating, he enjoys playing with his friends and riding his bicycle. Now that he has his prosthetic leg, he can be fully independent and join his friends at school. When he's older, he would like to become a lawyer or a doctor.
Our partner Legs4Africa has been busy collecting legs from hospitals across the UK, Canada, France, and Australia to prepare for a big shipment in May to Sub-Saharan Africa.
Because of our givers, there will be 1,000 other "Gabriels" who will be able to walk again, giving them a new start at life.
