Readiness to Give

Showing a readiness to give more of something, as money or time, than is strictly necessary or expected - Generous

The best part of that definition is “readiness to give more.”  That statement defines eMite and the community of givers who support us.  eMiters stand ready to give.  We are this way.  It is in us - in our core.  We don’t give to feel good.  We give because in giving we find fulfilment - purpose.  We can’t wait to find the next opportunity to give, to help, to meet a need.

Now before there is any confusion, let’s have some clarification (some might call it qualification).  Giving to anything is not what we’re talking about.  Giving to people or things that don’t need help is not compelling to eMiters.  In other words, giving to a large organization that is sufficiently funded to accomplish its purpose is not really exciting.  But finding that project that touches the lives of people who would otherwise be left in need, well now you got our attention.

So eMite actively researches and discovers those projects that our community of givers will find compelling and fulfilling.  Everyday we are working to bring eMiters the next giving opportunity.  You see, we believe that Generous Living is not something that you just fall into.  It does not just come to you because you have lots of money or lots of time.  Generosity is something that is worked at and nurtured in your life.  Generous Living is taught and learned, passed on from one generation to the next.  It is purposeful both in action and in experience.

No.  You don’t have to be wealthy to be generous.  Just ask the widow who gave the first mite (The First Mite Given).  No.  You don’t have to be retired or have a degree or be super spiritual to be generous.  Generous Living is available to everybody.  What the Generous Life does require is a “readiness to give”.
